Marly’s

Marly’s is an Italian ready-made women’s fashions company, founded at Arzignano in the province of Vicenza, in 1996 by the Lagnerini family. During the 1970s, designers such as Soprani, Venturi, and Albani collaborated with the firm. During the 1990s, own-brand stores were opened in Venice (1990), Arzignano (1992), and Tokyo (1994). In 1998, a group of managers, including Paolo Bastianello and Antonio Pisanello, with the support of three English merchant banks, acquired control of the company.

This group, which had a turnover of 25 billion lire in 1999, 30% of which was made in Japan, employed 110 people. It has four different brands: Marly’s, Marly’s 1981, Marly’s News and, most recently, Marly’s Couture designed by Tomaso Stefanelli.
An exclusive contract was signed with Carlo Pignatelli for the production and distribution of his prêt-à-porter. Initially the agreement, which was to last five years with the possibility of renewal, only covered womenswear. It excluded the two lines Sposa Carlo Pignatelli Couture and Fiorinda by Carlo Pignatelli, which continued to be produced internally, along with the menswear collections.
