Linda Farrow
Linda Farrow is an eyewear English brand, founded in 1970 by homonymous designer.
The history
In 1970 fashion designer Linda Farrow founded the homonymous eyewear brand, helped by his husband, who was an optician. Her advantage was that she was among the first to treat glasses as clothes, so presenting different collections every season.
This attitude, alongside her experimentation and the innovation on the product, thanks to the use of polarized lenses, made her collaborate with big brands, such as Emilio Pucci, Stendhal, Sonia Rykiel, Balenciaga, Guy Laroche and Yves Saint Laurent.
The rebirth
During the ’80s the designer decided to leave her company to dedicate herself to family. Only 25 years later, in 2003, the brand came back to the market: her son Simon Jablon, indeed, found her mother’s archive, so he decided to revamp the brand. The glasses, originally labelled Linda Farrow Vintage, immediately conquered department stores such as Browns or Harvey Nichols: the request, which unexpectedly grew, as though in ’70s, encouraged Jablon not to limit any more the production to archive frames, but to produce new models.
In the following years, the brand was notice because of its collaborations with famous fashion designers (Elley Kishimoto in 2004, Jeremy Scott in 2006, Dries Van Noten and Raf Simons in 2008, Oscar de la Renta in 2011 and Phillipp Lim in 2013) and because it appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue covers.
The great success obtained, again, made the brand open a flagship store in London, in 2013.
