Harvey Nichols

English department store. Opened in 1813 by Benjamin Harvey. In 1820 it extended its product range to sell linen, fabrics, and oriental carpets. Acquired by Debenhams in 1919, it gave a large sales space to fashion. In 1985 it was taken over by the Burton group and, six years later, by Dickson Concepts. Today it sells most of the European brands.
