Sun, Feifei 1989

Feifei Sun born in Weifang, in the Shandong province on the 20th of March 1989, is one of the most influential models in China.

The debut

Feifei Sun graduated from Soochow University with a major in Fashion Design. In early 2008, Feifei Sun participated for the first time in an official competition, winning the championship in China and the third place in the world at the Elite Model Look Contest. In 2009, Feifei Sun participated in the 2009 annual show of Chanel’s “Paris-Shanghai” Advanced Craft Workshop Series.

In 2010 she did her first commercial after her debut, in collaboration with the H&M brand. In 2011 he participated in about 40 fashion shows held during the Spring and Summer Fashion Week. Moreover she walked the catwalks of the Celine and Lanvin brands; Valentino and others. In the same year she also appeared on the cover of the autumn issue of the famous magazine “i-D”.

Feifei Sun’s career

In early 2012, Feifei Sun was rated as the fastest growing super female model in 2011 by an international professional modeling website. In 2013 she became the first Chinese model to appear on the cover of the Italian edition of VOGUE magazine. In July of the same year, Feifei Sun became the first official Asian testimonial for Prada’s autumn-winter collection.

She took part in the Fall Winter Fashion Week in March 2014; on the 23rd of December she participated in the Sohu Fashion Festival, winning the title of Super Model of the Year. On the 16th of March 2015, Feifei Sun appeared on the cover of the inaugural issue of the Chinese edition of the international fashion culture magazine “T Magazine”.

In 2017, Feifei Sun was selected as the face for the Spring Edition 2017 campaign in South Coast Plaza, California. In May 2017 the model advertised the garments of the ZARA spring and summer capsule in Paris.  In May of the same year she participated in the Met Gala and on the 20th of September she took part in the Milan Fashion Week.

Testimonial for luxury brands

Sun Feifei became the face of several luxury brands thanks to high quality photos and her iconic and natural beauty. It’s worth mentioning that Feifei Sun won Valentino’s spring and summer advertising in 2017, becoming Valentino’s global testimonial following the spring-summer 2012 blockbusters. She also collaborated with many top fashion brands, including Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Prada, Dior, Calvin Klein.

To give another example, in 2014 the Asian model was chosen as the protagonist for Dior’s fall and winter commercials. It is worth mentioning that the famous photographers who took care of this advertising campaign were the Dutch Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. In addition to their role in the fashion industry, they are also quite influential in the world of contemporary art: they have held exhibitions in art galleries and museums in different countries.

At the end of the advertising campaign for the CK One perfume, she was noticed by the famous photographer Steven Meisel, so much so that she became his inspiring muse.
