MC2 Sint Barth
MC2 Saint Barth is an Italian beachwear brand, born in 1994 from an idea by Massimiliano Ferrari and Raffaele Noris. Nowadays it’s managed by Bergamo company Lanikai s.r.l. and, after a progressive increase of its proposal, it sells total look for men, women and children.
The birth
After several experiences in the textile sector, Ferrari and Noris decided to found an Italian beachwear brand, taking inspiration from the fashion of the ’80s and the style of the Caribbean island of St. Barth: its name results indeed from the juxtaposition of the toponym of the island and the name of the first model of aircraft flown in nearby St Martin.
The success and the first single brand store
In 2004 it started an ambitious strategic expansion plan in the retail world, whose first step was the opening of a single-brand store in Porto Cervo: the success earned allowed the opening of other single-brand stores in famous seaside resorts, such as Saint Tropez, Cannes, Juan Les Pins, Antiparos and Mykonos.
Since 2010, MC2 Saint Barth has consolidated its sales strategy by focusing on the single-brand stores, whose number was 44, in 2019. In addition to this, the brand is distributed in more than 1.100 high fashion multi-brand boutiques, in several department stores (among which La Rinascente, Saks Fifth Avenue and Selfridges), in online stores and on the e-commerce portal of the brand.
MC2 Saint Barth collections
The fashion of MC2 Saint Barth talks to the man who knows how to be chic and how not to lose his elegant style at the beach: as a consequence, it produces swimsuits characterized by an excellent fit, beautiful colours and excellent technical textiles, whose innovativeness allows to satisfy age ranges. Even the pastel-coloured linen shirts, the garments with prints and embroideries or the colourful T-shirts take up a disengaged and holiday lifestyle, which doesn’t give up on tailoring details.
Saint Barth offers different types of fabrics: San Gallo Embroidery Swimwear, Animalier Swimwear, Chenille Swimwear, Lamé, Lycra and a careful selection of resistant and waterproof fabrics, which allow you to mix patterns and materials to create unique and always different looks.
Collaborations
In time there were many collaborations with international brands which appreciated casual and vacation style of the brand, such as Superga, Coca Cola, Disney and Algida. Furthermore, in 2008 MC2 Saint Barth revamped Naj-Oleari, which in this way presented its beachwear collections again.
Last results and projects for future
In 2022, MC2 Saint Barth’s turnover reached 80 million euros, in this way increasing of 45% as compared to the precedent year. Moreover, at the end of the year, the brand opened its capital to Peninsula Capital and Percassi, which are now minority business partners and controls 40% of the company: the financial strength of the former and the retail experience of the latter are a resource to strengthen the presence of the brand in Europe and to hasten its expansion in America and Asia.
