Campi

Silk factory near Como specialized in fabric for ties. It was established in 1922 by Enrico Campi, who took over the weaving mill in Appiano Gentile (CO) belonging to Verga & Campi, of which he was a partner. At the death of Enrico in 1941, the business was first entrusted to his son-in-law Luigi Guggiari and, in 1948, to his son Giovanni. Around the mid 1950s the brand started to enjoy steady success, with a massive distribution of jacquard fabric for ties on the international market. In that period, Giovanni Campi brought under his own control the shares owned by the heirs of various associates and family members. After his death in 1992, Campi merged, in stages, with the Ratti Group, until its complete takeover in 1998. Among the company’s clients are Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferré, and Valentino in Italy; and Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, and Saint-Laurent abroad.
