Vigna

Giorgio Vigna (1955). Sculptor, creator of design objects, set designer, costume designer, and creator of decorations for stage and fashion, he has already produced a rich line of jewelry, sometimes conceived as one-offs, at other times as limited editions. He was born in Verona. He has staked his reputation on glass, which he “developed” into various forms of expression. He is a teacher at the Istituto Europeo di Design, and he has often taken inspiration from the natural, geological, and mineral world, shaping glass and resins into plastic forms, to which metal is added with purely structural functions. In other cases, however, he has used gold as a material on its own, rich in symbolic values. In 1999 he created sculptural jewels in Murano glass dedicated to the four elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. He has made vass — Sasso, Fonte, Stilla, Fuochi d’acqua — and ornaments — the Talismans — for Venini, where since 2003 he has been the artistic director for the Progetto Gioielli (‘jewels project’). He serves in the same position for the Gruppo Italian Luxury Industrie, which is also affiliated with the Murano glassmaker. His creations are on display at the Studio Giorgio Vigna in Milan, the Galerie Naila de Mombrison in Paris and the Studio Miscetti in Rome. In 2003, he had persona shows at the Museo Correr in Venice and at the Museo Villa Pignatelli in Naples.”
