Tappé

Herman Patrick Tappé. American fashion designer and milliner. Active from 1910 till 1940. He designed the wedding dress in which Mary Pickford, “America’s sweetheart,” was married to Douglas Fairbanks. He had designed it for the daughter of the publisher Conde Nast, for a photo layout to be published in Vogue. It was simple, bare-shouldered, with lace trim, accompanied by a silk and tulle veil. The actress saw it and decided to wear it to the altar. His style can be described as romantic and feminine. He is also known for his hat design.
