ANNA MOLINARI. stylist, founder, together with her husband Gianpaolo Tarabini, of the Blumarine brand. The line is produced by Blufin S.p.A., a company owned by the family, which also includes the Anna Molinari brand and the Blugirl brand.

Anna Molinari was born in Carpi, in 1958. She began working in the fashion world from an early age, helping the parents who owned the knitwear company Molly, a company that produced knitwear for many of the most important Italian and foreign fashion houses. After a master’s degree, obtained with honors, she enrolled in the degree course in art history, determined to further cultivate her interest in creative forms. The meeting with Count Gianpaolo Tarabini Castellani, who was destined to become her husband as well as a business partner, is fundamental for her career.

With Tarabini, in addition to the ideal man, Anna finds the means to be able to create her own business, soon disconnecting from the family activity rather repetitive and limiting from the creative point of view. She, imaginative mind, art lover, endowed with a strongly feminine and romantic style, fascinated by the colors of the sea, by the beauty evoked by nature. He, a noble businessman, an expert in finance, ready to make his wife’s vision effective.

Together, in 1977, they founded the Blumarine brand, which in less than a decade established itself in the thriving fashion sector that sees Milan as a springboard.

Already in 1980 the designer won the title of “best creator of the year” at Modit, a recognition that allowed her to show, the following year, with a first fashion show in via Manzoni. The first requests are not long in coming, even from department stores and foreign boutiques, which show ever more appreciation for the Italian style and in particular the elegance of the designer’s clothes. From 1981 to the knitwear the packs are placed side by side. For his brilliant career, Anna will also owe a lot to Walter Albini and Franco Moschino, two stylists-masters with whom she collaborated, drawing valuable lessons.

From Albini, the father of the pret-à-porter, learns how to enhance his romantic vein, from Moschino learns to make her irony and playfulness, characteristics that will successfully found first in Blumarine, then in Blugirl.

In 1986, making the baggage of all her experience, she was ready to make her official debut on the Milan Collezioni runways, with a line designed entirely by her. Many iconic items such as the Blu-Vi are created, the cashmere cardigan with a mink fur collar, loved immediately by Hollywood stars and t-shirts, with the Blumarine logo in Swarovski, which have made the fortune of the house and which still boast several imitations and variations among the various competing designers.

Her collections are successful because

Her collections are successful because they embody an ideal of fresh, young and very feminine women, projected into a dreamlike and almost fairytale dimension. A sensual woman who seems to come out of the enchanted woods but also ready to face the competitive metropolitan jungle with the glamor spirit. She is dubbed “the lady of roses” because for her clothes Anna is always inspired by the eternal beauty of flowers, and the innate elegance of the sea, passions that are also reflected in the interior design of Blumarine boutiques where the pink color acts as a master.

Anna Molinari

In the 90s, on the wave of the success of the label, Blufin sees the birth of two new brands: Blugirl, a prete-à-porter line, aimed at a younger target with lower prices to the public and the high fashion label Anna Molinari for a decidedly more sophisticated audience. With this operation, the company is committed to covering a wider slice of the market, in particular with Blugirl, designed by Anna Molinari, which is a great success first among the industry, for its decidedly irreverent tone, then by the public that rewards it with sales.

The label “Anna Molinari”, instead, is designed by her daughter Rossella Tarambini who distinguishes herself from the beginning for the strongly conceptual and experimental style, with an extreme attention to sartorial detail.
