Verhoeven

Julie Verhoeven (1969). Artist and designer whose talent ranges from fashion to design and art direction. After an early experience as assistant to John Galliano in London, she was a design consultant for Martine Sitbon. Later, for the Spring-Summer 2002 season, Marc Jacobs put her in charge of designing a collection of bags for Louis Vuitton: bags that became cult objects, so that in just a few days the surging demand made them an international success. Julie has exhibited her work at the Mobile Gallery in London and at Colette in Paris and works with the magazines Dazed & Confused, Self Service, The Face, Numero and for the website http://www.showstudio.com. She was involved in directing a promo for Sugababes and recently produced an animated film for the artists Fisherspooner. She has also worked as teacher at the Central St. Martins. Gibo by Julie Verhoeven is her first fashion collection.
2004, September. She steps down as creative director of Gibò. She is replaced by the Japanese designer Ichiro Seta.
