Karzai

Hamid Karzai (1955). Political premier of Afghanistan. After the liberation of Kabul from the Taliban regime in 2001, he became the head of the new government. He has appeared in articles about everyday events because the designer Tom Ford defined him as the “most elegant man on the planet, very elegant and very proud”. A charismatic leader of the Pashtun ethnics, he made wool mantles trendy (from which the Pashtun people take their name). Even Prince Charles wears them. Karzai also launched the use of pakol, the mujaheddin beret in wool or fur. Cultivated, refined, and a polyglot, he is married without children with seven brothers and a sister. He describes himself as a “moderate Muslim”. He is flattered by the attentions dedicated to him by the Western world.
