INES VALENTINITSCH (1972): AUSTRIAN FASHION DESIGNER

Ines Valentinitsch is an Austrian fashion designer born in Graz in 1972. She studied with Helmut Lang in Vienna and at the Domus Academy in Milan. Then, she has worked in Italy and abroad. She has worked with a number of companies producing clothing, knitwear, haute couture and accessories, not to mention experience with consortia grouping lace manufacturers, such as Austrian Embroideries, or specialist magazines, Swiss Textil. Since 1993, Ines has designed entire lines or simple garments for them, without ever losing sight of the collection that bears her name, which debuted at the end of February 1999 during Milano Collezioni and which she has since presented on several occasions on European catwalks. He designed the FusCo collection for Angelo Fusco. He brought models on the catwalk with a beer can and a (fake) joint in their hands. The parallels with Vivienne Westwood are endless.

The metropolitan jungle, a wild yet urban landscape, is the setting for Valentinitsch’s spring-summer 2002 collection, in which the woman parades wrapped in woven lianas that wrap around her body. Fabrics and accessories evoke the world of monkeys. At the entrance, journalists receive voodoo dolls complete with pins. For her first appearance at “White”, the section of Momi-Modamilano dedicated to the most innovative names in prêt-à-porter, the Austrian designer presents dresses with rounded shoulders from the 1980s, white balaclavas and modern ski suits. In 2003, she joined the creative team of the Aigner brand.
