Boateng

Ozwald Boateng(1967) was an english tailor of Ghanaian background. He works in London, where he was born. He offers himself as a pioneer of what he defines as custom made couture, which he developed transcending the traditional rules of tailoring. He started designing men’s Collections in 1988, and in 1995 opened his first shop in London.
O-Z is the new brand which combines the research for the most modern tailoring solutions with the taste of the moment. It is on sale at Debenhams. Boetang contributes to Pierce Brosnan’s wardrobe in his last appearance as 007.
The first classic and casual Collection produced and sold by Marchpole, and designed by Boateng, is available in stores. At first, his creations are to be distributed only in the British market.
Continuing his experience designing for film, Ozwald designs the costumes for the cast of Matrix Reloaded for their promotional tour around the world. Starting in July, the designer’s line is available in the House of Fraser department stores, while a low-cost line is on sale at Cecil Gee. In Autumn, a flagship store opens in New York. He is appointed creative director of the men’s line of Givenchy. He states that his challenge is to reinvent the French gentleman.
He makes his début on the Paris runways in front of the executive director of LVMH, the holding company which owns the brand.
