COPPING PETER, English designer, born in 1967.
Born in Oxford, Copping Peter’s passion for fashion has overwhelmed him since he was a child, when he dressed his sister’s dolls with scraps of fabric found around the house. He trained at the prestigious Central Saint Martins School and at the Royal College of Art and then, while still a student, undertook an internship in Paris with Christian Lacroix.
He collects experiences working for various brands, in Italy by Iceberg, and since 1994 in the team of Sonia Rykiel. Then the big break: since 1997 he has been working at Louis Vuitton in the Marc Jacobs era.
In 2009 Copping Peter was appointed creative director of Nina Ricci, an experience that allows him to fully express his personal style.
After five years, Oscar De La Renta personally chooses him as his successor. Thus began, in 2014, the new course of the US brand after the death of its founder. The experience lasts for only two years, and Peter Copping announces his return to Europe in 2016.
Since then, the English designer has been working on projects related to the world of interiors, but in 2021 there are rumors of his presence in the Balenciaga team worked for the rebirth of the French maison’s couture line, under the creative direction of Demna Gvasalia.
