Conway

Gordon Conway (1894-1956). Illustrator for Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and Vanity Fair, and also a costume designer. Born in Claiborne, Texas, she studied in America and Italy. She was discovered by Heyworth Campbell, the art director at Condé Nast publishing. She moved to London in 1920, where she began to work for the theater and the cinema. At the age of 42, she retired to Carbin, Virginia.
