Cardona

David Cardona (1964). American designer, born in Colombia but raised in Los Angeles. He has a degree in engineering. He started designing planes for McDonnel Douglas Corporation. Then, after graduating with the highest marks from a school of design, he entered the fashion industry and worked for five years in the atelier of Richard Tyler. In 1997 he met John Bowman, the founder of Crome Heart, a brand of luxury leather goods and jewellery, and two years later they started Bowman Cardona, which became the manufacturing company for the brand David Cardona. In 2000 he won the Fashion Award and, in 2002, he was nominated for the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award Cardona dresses several Hollywood stars, including Angelica Houston, Raquel Welch, Holly Hunter, Britney Spears, and Janet Jackson. He has won an Emmy Award as best costume designer. Besides the world of cinema, he is active in the world of music and his clothes have been worn by stars such as The Backstreet Boys, Carlos Santana, Natalie Cole, and Yolanda. Starting in 2003 he designed the Cerruti women’s Collections, though still continuing to work on his own line.
