THE LIGHTWEIGHT COTTON FABRIC LAUNCHED BY BRIGITTE BARDOT

Zephir, from zephyr, the spring wind, takes its name from a light cotton fabric with stripes or checks. Once used for school uniforms, today it is highly used in summer shirts, since it’s a very breathable shirting fabric.

THE ORIGINS

Zephir was developed in 1818 by Thomas Mason, in the same year that Henry Sands Brooks opened H. & D. H. Brooks & Co. in New York. It entered the mainstream when Brigitte Bardot launched it at the turn of the 50s and 60s in Saint Tropez for childish and naive clothes, but also sexy and spicy.
