Marais, Stephane
Stephane Marais is a French make-up artist born in 1960. Originally from Saint-Malo, he studied economics in Paris. Early on, he realised that tables and graphs were not his passion and so he enrolled at Christian Chauveaux’s school of make-up. Stephane Marais began his first collaborations with famous designers, such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garµons, Givenchy, Hermès, Prada, and Genny. He was asked to work on some of the most famous shoots in the world, with talented photographers such as Peter Lindberg and Richard Avedon.
For the make-up artist, a face reflects personality and his aim is to give women the possibility to see a previously unknown part of themselves. In 2002, he opened his first own-brand boutique in Paris in the rue Saint-Honoré with a line of make-up embodying glamour and originality.
