Schettini

Filippo Schettini(1900-1990). Milanese furrier. Famous for his eclecticism, he was simultaneously a furrier, an editor, and an art dealer. When, during the 1950s, the economic boom worked miracles for his workshop on Via Filodrammatici in Milan, he opened an art gallery in New York selling pictures by Lucio Fontana, Max Ernst, and Fernand Léger, then one in Milan. As well as being a dealer for Fontana, he sold the paintings of Dova, Crippa, Veronesi, Baj, and Tancredi. A handsome and elegant man, it seems that he used to give his furs to the wives and partners of painters in return for their artworks. He died, however, in disgrace in Milan and only two of the artists that he loved came to his funeral.
