Maud Frizon

Footwear brand founded by the French mannequin and favorite model of the designer Courrèges (Nadine is her real name). At the end of the 1960s, she designed a collection of footwear, which was produced by an Italian company, and with her husband Gigi De Marco opened a store in Rue des Saints Pères, on the corner of Rue de Grenelle. One of her main designs was a high boot without a zip, which was worn by Brigitte Bardot and Catherine Deneuve. By 1973, the husband and wife team owned two companies with about 300 employees. To the women’s collection, whose cone-shaped heels became famous, were added men’s and children’s ranges, a line of scarves, and knitwear. Designers such as Alaïa, Missoni, Montana, Mugler, and Rykiel collaborated with the fashion house. In 1992 the brand was sold.
