Marzotto, Gaetano
Gaetano Marzotto is a textile and clothing entrepreneur born in 1952, President of Pitti Immagine. He studied at Morosini Naval College in Venice and took a degree in Business Economics at Bocconi Institute in Milan. After a period of work experience at Olivetti in the Department of Planning, Programming and Information Systems Control, he began to work for Necchi as a “controller” and assistant to the managing and financial director.
In 1980 he joined the Marzotto Group, starting in the Textile and Central Services Acquisitions Division. He directly oversaw the acquisition of Bassetti in 1985, the partnership with Zucchi in 1986 and the merger with Lanerossi in 1987. He directed the Marlboro Division from 1989 to 1994 and managed the relaunch of the new line Marlboro Classics. From 1991 to 1997, as the Group’s Vice-President, he headed the restructuring of the clothing sector, in particular Ferré and Missoni menswear and strategic relations with Hugo Boss. From 1997 to 1999 he was director of the Development of Foreign Markets and the Development of New Markets (China, Russia, America). He was a partner of Hirsch & Co. Management & Consulting Milan.
