Margarita Nuez (1940) is a Spanish seamstress and founded her own fashion house in ’74

 

Margarita (1940). Spanish tailor. She was born into a family tradition: her mother was a tailor at Foz de Calandra, near Teruel. Margarita moved at a very early age to Barcelona with her sisters but founded her own atelier in 1974. The queen and princesses of the House of Bourbon are her clients.

Influenced by her husband, the painter Carlos Mensa, she is a representative of the cross-references between art and fashion. Designs by Nuez are on permanent display in the contemporary clothing pavilion at the Textile Museum in Barcelona, which exhibits approximately 100 garments by Cristobal Balenciaga, Pedro Rodriguez, Chanel, Pierre Cardin, and Italian designers.

In 2005, she was also awarded the Cross of St. George in her city, Barcelona, the highest honor of the Catalonia region.
