Manuel Canovas

French fashion house specializing in the creation of haute couture interior décor textiles, beachwear and lingerie. It bears the name of its founder who launched it in 1963 in Paris. After training at the Fine Art Academies in Paris and Rome, where he studied architecture, painting, design, and archaeology, Canovas decided to found his own firm of household fabrics. From his first collection, Canovas achieved a reputation for his design talents, his creative use of color, his knowledge of design techniques, taking inspiration from nature and American folklore. He created a collection of beachwear in perfect harmony with the firm’s other lines, in terms of the sense of color and the elegant prints. The line was enriched with accessories such as bags and shoes and underwear was added to the beachwear. The Maison Manuel Canovas is now part of the Colefax and Fowler group.
