Arthur (1921-1991). American jeweler. Interpreter of a goldsmithery style inspired by informal art which spread during the 1950s and 1960s. He began producing jewelry in New York in a naturalistic taste, which started a trend in the USA and in Europe. His first experiences in the working of metals date back to the years of his youth, to the time he was working in the Merchant Navy. He sets raw stones in modeled metallic frames. He opened his first boutique on 59th Street, then, in 1962, on Madison Avenue. Over the next two decades, he opened 18 stores in the US and several sales points in Europe. The brand died with him.
