JUAN DUYOS, CREATOR OF THE SPANISH CLOTHING BRAND
Juan Duyos, born in Madrid, started collaborating with the stylist Manuel Piña in 1992, while, at the same time, he designed his first collections with Cecilia Paniagua, as DUYOS&PANIAGUA.
In 1995 Juan Duyos joined Cecilia Panagua and created the new Duyos & Panagua brand. From 1996 to 1999 he collaborated with Antonio Pernas. In September 1997 he did a fashion show at Pasarela Cibeles in Madrid. He partcipated in several fashion shows of the company in Pasarela Cibeles and the London Fashion Week in 1998. As a result, Juan signed his first collection as DUYOS in 1999, “Remember and save”, awarded as the best Cibeles collection. Throughout his career he received many awards. He separated from Cecilia and continued to present his collections on his own. His style is characterized by a disenchanted and daring style, very colourful and original for the printing of fabrics.
THE COLLABORATIONS WITH THE GREAT BRANDS
In 2002 he was appointed creative director of the legendary company Don Cotton, whose work leading the creative team managed to revitalize and update the brand. He carried out this work until 2005. He collaborated with brands such as Levi’s, Swatch, Absolut or Adidas.
In 2006 he began his collaboration with the weekly supplement YO DONA of the newspaper El Mundo, writing a monthly column. From September 2011 to summer 2015, Juan Duyos was the director of the degree course in Fashion Design at ESNE.
In 2013 with the Riserva collection he won the L’Oréal award for the fall/winter 2013/2014 season of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid. In 2016 he won the MBFWM Best Collection award. The 20th anniversary collection, presented in February 2017, was much applauded as it involved 10 of the most important national top models in the history of fashion. At the same time he continued his expansion through new licenses such as those for the home or high jewelery, in addition to the activity of atelier and, above all, in the design of wedding dresses, both for women and for men.
2021
In 2021, Duyos designed the uniform for the staff of the Spanish Pavilion at the Dubai World Expo 2020, and again won the MBFWM Best Collection award. Duyos created his own recognizable style based on the use of colour, fabric, volumes and silhouettes, a trademark of the house, always with an eye to the past and the other to the future.
