Jemenez

Elisa (1965). American designer. Daughter of two sculptors and an art graduate from the University of Arizona, she started her career as sculptor and joined the world of fashion by creating designs for her sculptures. She was discovered by the gallery owner Holly Solomon, protagonist of the New York art scene, and designed her first Collection in 1996. Her imagination is boundless, with holes, rips, hems refinished with candle flame, burnt fabrics, and cloths washed in tea and spices that follows the lines of the body and the fantasy of the wearer. Every garment is a unique piece, a game without an obvious balance of geometric forms and colors created with precious and non-precious fabrics. Within three years, Jemenez conquered the fashion world and Hollywood. Her garments, which can be purchased only through the Solomon Gallery (as works of art) or at her Manhattan showroom, have been worn by the biggest stars of cinema and music.
