Lulu (1960). English designer of bags. She studied art for one year, then started a career as a video producer. In 1989 she changed direction again and began her own business in fashion. She designs and produces briefcases in an artisan style. After a few seasons, she launched a line of evening bags. She has been highly successful. Her eccentric style is best represented by her cult bag shaped like a violet vase. (A copy is kept in the fashion Collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London). Since 1990 she has been presenting her models during the London Fashion Week and working as consultant for great names, such as Norman Hartnell, Caroline Charles, Tomasz Starzewski, Colette Dinnigan, Mark Whitaker, Clements Ribeiro, and Lucien Pellat-Finet. She has created a line of evening bags at affordable prices for the department store, Debenhams. She opened her first boutique with the journalist-designer Selina Blow in 1995. The following year she opened a shop-atelier in Ledbury Road in the trendy area of Portobello. Three years later, she opened her most important sale point near Sloane Street, where she wanted to create a type of club for her most affectionate clients, such as the actresses Elizabeth Hurley, Judi Dench, and Madonna.
