Grumbach

Didier Grumbach (1937). President of the Union Federation of French Fashion. His career started in 1963 when he took on the responsibility of his family’s company, Cerf Mandés-France, operating in the field of manufacturing established by his grandfather. He decided to shift the company’s direction towards ready-to-wear high fashion, especially in partnership with Saint-Laurent. Later, as strategist for the company Créateurs & Industriels, established in 1971, he encouraged young designers, such as Ossie Clark, Jean Charles de Castelbajac, and Emmanuelle Khanh. In 1978 he became President of the company, Thierry Mugler. As both industrialist and in his institutional role, he has always been very attentive to the emerging names of fashion. In 1993 he published Histoires de la Mode (Editions du Seuil). Since 1989 he has been Director of Courses at the French Institute of Fashion.
