Grevi Mode

Hat company. Established in 1875 the Grevi family has been operating in the sectors of straw and millinery for four generations. From the period of the weaving women, from whose hands came weaving as delicate a lace, from the Florence straw hats of the late 1800s, it gradually brought about more sophisticated and functional models both for men and women. From the soft panamas of D’Annunzio’s style to the rigid straw hats of showmen like Spadaro or Maurice Chevalier. After the crisis of 1929, which inflicted a tough blow to export, the company turned to the domestic market. This activity was guided with ability and creativity for decades by Silvano and Alda Grevi, overcoming the difficult period of the war. Those were the years of melousine and satin felt hats, of exotic straws such as parabuntal, and of fabrics such as organza, velvet and straw laizes. During the 1960s, the company launched a hat in Tuscany lamb skin all over the world, without distracting from its traditional lines, which remained vital and precious. In the early 1980s, the Grevi Mode brand was launched, acquiring increased value in a reorganized company, both in the image and in the social structure, with the entry of the fourth generation.
