Hamnett

Katherine (1948). British designer. She studied at St. Martin’s School of Art in London. In 1979 she created her own lines. Elegance and functionality are the primary aims of her fashion, characterized by luxury and extravagance. Inspired by the styles of the 1950s yet interpreted with a contemporary touch, her Collections have always referred to the present day. Her ecological, animal rights, and pacifist T-shirts are particularly famous. She has been presenting her Collections in Paris and Milan since 1989.
The effects of September 11 badly hit London Fashion Week. Among the subdued exhibitions with the resonant rhythm of metal detectors, Katherine Hamnett, Burberry, Paul Smith, Clements Ribeiro, and Nicole Farhi withdrew from the proceedings.
Hamnett announced a restyling that was functional to her return to the big names of fashion. The relaunch program saw the renewal of licenses and a reorganization of distribution and commercialization criteria.
