Gallia & Peter

Millinery. Mariuccia Gallia, the daughter of a milliner of Turin, established Gallia & Peter at via Montenapoleone 3 in Milan in 1930. During the 1950s she worked with the most important dressmakers, such as Jole Veneziani, Biki, and Gandini. Her models, both inspired by Parisian designs and of her own creation, “dressed” the most beautiful and richest heads in Milan. In 1980, after the death of Mariuccia and her daughter Cornelia, the firm passed to the granddaughter, Laura Marelli. Today, hats are manufactured in the same premises and some of the models, from 1880 to 1960, have been published in the book Il Cappello da donna (Be Ma Publishing). Gallia & Peter creations have been shown in several exhibitions, including one in 1986 at the Domus Center in Milan dedicated to hats inspired by Futurist paintings, and one in 1992 at the atelier on via Montenapoleone dedicated to the most famous bridal hairdos.
