Fusco
Angelo (1956). Born in Rocca Monfina, near Caserta. He is a designer of ties, something which he did first as a hobby and then as a second trade in order to fill the free time afforded by his main occupation, plastic surgery. It is a medical specialty for which he qualified after receiving a degree in medicine in Milan and perfecting his skills through several courses in the U.S. and Brazil. Fusco has always been a “gourmet” of elegance, paying particular attention to “the detail which makes the difference.” And the “difference,” or, if you prefer, the punctuation, in men’s clothing is, as is well known, the tie, especially the tie that is made in Naples. He became more and more careful in his choices and so demanding as to be unsatisfied with what the market offered him. So he decided to turn to the old artisans of Naples, asking them to manufacture for his personal use only small numbers of unique ties with very precise characteristics: no prints, worked only in jacquard, seven folds only, lined in silk same as the tie itself. Just two styles for each pattern and color variation. He gave them as gifts for selected friends. The word-of-mouth prompted requests from the friends of his friends who were charmed by these exclusive ties manufactured with the best fabrics and accompanied by a certificate reporting the date of manufacture and the code number of the silk archive, for later tidying up. Doc-ties closed in an envelope and sealed in wax with a logo. In short, the hobby became very pleasant work, and a way to relax, after hours spent in surgery. In December 2002, he opened a boutique on via Montenapoleone in Milan. It was expanded in January 2003.
