                               Fashion & Textile Museum (FTM)

Fashion & Textile Museum (FTM). A London museum dedicated entirely to fashion, fabrics, and fashion’s major figures. It opened in May 2003. In shape it is a kind of colored prism, designed by the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. It is located in the Bermondsey neighborhood, in an area south of the Thames, the ideal stage set for a series of events completely devoted to fashion, including exhibits, summits, and workshops.

For its opening, the museum organized My Favourite Dress, an exhibit for which 70 famous designers lent their favorite dresses. Some dresses were even donated to the museum, for example by Christian Lacroix and John Galliano. Zandra Rhodes donated 3,000 of her original models, and these became part of the museum’s permanent collection. The collection can be viewed by appointment only, or else through the digital archives which will soon be available in the museum library.”
