Edling

Udo Edling (1965). Designer of Romanian origin. In 1981, he left Romania for Germany, where he worked as an assistant in an advertising agency in Frankfurt. In 1987, he moved to France, where his actual career began. From 1991 to ’95 he worked with Galliano, André Walker, Montana, Kecha, Galéries Lafayette, Astorino (in ’95 and ’96), and Electre. In 1996, he presented his first personal collection. The following year he became director of the New Man line and worked with the maison Kenzo. He presented his collection in Paris for the first time in 2002. Today, his clothes, for both men and women, are on sale in Paris and Japan only. “My philosophy,” he explains, “consists of introducing small touches of modernity. I don’t like to propose shapes that are too extravagant and I don’t like sudden changes in the cut of clothes either.”
