Di Gregorio

Lia (1959). Italian goldsmith, born in Bari. After completing her artistic studies, she became interested in the goldsmith’s art in Florence, under the guidance of master Bino Bini. After deepening her knowledge metal manufacturing techniques, she moved to Milan, where she opened an atelier and devoted herself to the manufacture of unique pieces emphasizing qualities such as lightness and freshness. This made her creations similar to the weft of a fabric rather than to jewellery as traditionally conceived. Gold, used in thin filaments, was twisted to form precious skeins or modeled in flimsy circles dotted with small pearls or metallic spheres. Completely handmade, the pieces created by Lia Di Gregorio are these days manufactured in goldsmith workshops and are on sale at number 10, Corso Como, in Milan, at Colette, in Paris, and at Barneys, in New York.
