David (1966). English photographer

He got into fashion photography in 1990 working as the assistant to Enrique Badulescu and Norman Weston.

Three years later he produced his first advertising campaign for Calvin Klein Jeans and worked with the designer Melanine Ward and the model Kate Moss, doing features and covers for Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, The Face, Arena, i-D, Vogue Uomo, and Dazed and Confused.

In 1994 he won a prize as the best young fashion photographer. He did campaigns for Calvin Klein, Gap, Prada, Yamamoto, Levi’s, Jil Sander, Hugo Boss, and Louis Vuitton. His style aims to reproduce reality, either by using natural light or by capturing his models in unconventional poses.

He creates campaigns for Calvin Klein, GAP, Prada, Yamamoto, Levi’s, Jil Sander, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton and all the most influential brands and magazines.

Sims’ exhibitions

Sims has exhibited widely, including a solo exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London. Her works are held in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris.
