CHRISTOPHER JOHN ROGERS, PROMISE OF US FASHION

Christopher John Rogers is a young designer, famous in American fashion, who founded the homonymous brand in 2016. From Louisiana, his interest in fashion started from an early age. When in elementary school he was fascinated by the relationship that was created between a person’s clothing and personality. From that moment he started thinking about fashion as a means of expression, nurturing his interest thanks to the videos on You Tube of the John Galliano and Alexander McQueen fashion shows.

His training led him to the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he graduated in 2016, the year in which he founded his brand. The following year he decided to move to New York. Here he found work as a knitwear designer at Diane Von Furstenberg, while in his spare time he continued to devote himself to his line, which he decided to present for the first time during the 2018 New York Fashion Week. He was limited by funds available. Due to which the fashion show was staged thanks to the generosity of the Director of the Martos Gallery who offered the location for free.

A few months later, after presenting the Fall 2019 collection, Rogers was fired from Diane Von Furstenberg. In 2019 he received the Vogue Fashion Found, and so his career took off. In 2020 he won the America’s Award of Emerging New Talent, the award of the CFDA. He was selected, in 2021, among the finalists of the LVMH prize.

ROGERS’S STYLE

His style is exuberant, it recalls vintage glamor and he made colour its strong point. Colours are essential in his creations, in his opinion a way to make people happy. A starting point for the design of each of his garments.
