Brochier

Brochier was a french textile company, established in 1890 by Jean Brochier in Villeurbanne. His son Joseph, in the early 1920s, began a major expansion with the acquisition of a weaving mill. In 1969 the company split into two different units. One was Brochier Silk, now a subsidiary of the Ratti Group. It specialized in textile fibers for high fashion, in the tradition of Lyon. The second unit, Brochier & Sons, is today a subsidiary of the Ciba-Geigy Group. In European it is a leader in chemical compounds, and produces only highly technical fabrics, providing the clothing for space programs.
