Brigitte

German magazine particularly interested in the new trends of international fashion. Published by Verlag Gruner and Jahr AG Co. of Hamburg, the magazine is aimed at young readers and offers them models and guides with which to make clothes at home. It is descended from Das Blatt Gehört der Hausfrau ( The Housewife’s Magazine), published in 1886 by Schirmer Edition of Berlin. In 1954 it became a bimonthly, with an average circulation of more than one million copies. In 1970 it merged with the fashion magazine Constanze.
Today, Brigitte, separated from Constanze and transformed into a biweekly, is one of the most popular magazines in Germany. It is directed by Nina Grygoriew.
