Bernasconi

Silvana Bernasconi was an italian journalist and illustrator. Passionate and an expert on art, she then devoted herself to fashion. Born in Forlì, she studied stage design in Rome, where she married Umberto Bernasconi, who was well-known through his association with a leading culture magazine, and he helped launch her on a journalism career. She worked with Corriere Lombardo and Settimo Giorno. In 1952 she and her husband founded the magazine Mamma and Bimbi, the first quarterly review of children’s fashion, which closed in 1974. From 1969 to ’75 she directed Harper’s Baazar Italy, and from 1974 to ’83 she was correspondent for the French edition of Vogue. She also worked for Vogue Italia, a magazine for which she still does special assignments.
