Frette

Historic brand of household linen. The history of Frette began in Grenoble, France in 1860, thanks to the entrepreneurship of Edmond Frette who, five years later, moved to Monza, near Milan. In 1878, he opened his first store in Milan. Two Italian partners, Giuseppe Maggi and Carlo Antonietti, joined the firm. In 1881, the company became a supplier to the Royal House of Savoy. After a time, it also supplied the Vatican and the big hotels such as the George V and the Ritz in Paris, the Savoy in London, the Cipriani in Venice, and the Mayfair Regent in New York. It has 40 points-of-sale in Italy as well as boutiques in the most important cities of the world.
Frette (which became a brand controlled by the holding company Fin.Part), has 60 privately-owned shops in the most important Italian and American cities.
Fin.Part floats the possibility of selling Frette, for a price “around €160 to €190 million.” In order to stabilize its financial situation, it had earlier, in April, decided to sell only the sportswear branch, with Best Company going to Cisalfa and Moncler to Equinox.
In the event there is no sale, due to a lack of interesting offers, Fin.Part says that a possible solution for Frette would be a spin-off and a listing on the stock exchange.
