Arcando

Alessio (1897). Italian shoemaker. After working as a model cutter for the master shoemakers Marchesi and Bergamaschi, he opened his own shop in 1919. During the 1920s and 1930s, his customers were at first dandies and the smart set, and then later on high society. In the 1950s and until the late 1960s, his clients were the nouveau riche beneficiaries of the economic boom. In 1968 and 1969 he won the Oscar for Best Men’s and Best Women’s Shoes.
