Arbeid

Murray (1935). English designer. He left school at the age of 15 to follow in the footsteps of his father, who was a tailor. After a short course in model-making and a few years as an apprentice, in 1952 he went to work for Michael Sherard as assistant designer. In 1957 he opened his own house, specializing in expensive ball gowns. The firm closed in 1992.
One of Lady Diana’s favorite designers, Arbeid was celebrated in the exhibit Royalty and Elegance held in Nashville, Tenn., which brought together more than one hundred dresses and fabrics from the 16th century up to today.
