Amato Daniele

AMATO, DANIELE

AMATO DANIELE IS AN ITALIAN BRAND OF LUXURY HANDBAGS AND ACCESSORIES

The story of Daniele Amato has its roots in a long tradition of craftsmanship started by Leu Locati in 1908.

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP OF LEU LOCATI

At the end of the 19th century, Luigi Locati, a lover of fine arts, began to devote himself to decorating the covers of sacred books. He opened a small craft shop in the heart of Milan where he produced elegant leather items for the upper classes of society. The production soon expanded from the covers of books to the iconic bags that accompanied royals and stars such as Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II and Grace Kelly. Unique processes like the “Petit Point” and the exclusive “Mesh“ – metal threads (real gold and real silver) woven together – continue to be classics of the brand.

In 1961, the history of Leu Locati met and intertwined with the history of Italy and fashion. The company participated, with seven others, in the foundation of the most important international fair for leather goods and fashion accessories: MIPEL.

THE INNOVATION OF AMATO DANIELE

Leu Locati has been following its hundred year tradition in creating unique bags among successes and failures. Since 2012 the brand has been joined by Amato Daniele, whose creative guide is the homonymous designer Daniele Amato, 7th generation of the Locati family. The business is still family-run. While Daniele is in charge of the creative direction, his sister Fulvia supports the workers in the creation of the prototypes and his father, Paolo Amato, is president of the company.

The company is based in the heart of Milan, in via Cosimo del Fante 13, in the family factory. Here new models are developed starting from the heritage of the brand. The brand offers a wide range of products, from footwear to accessories, maintaining the vocation of Leu Locati unchanged thanks to the use of an ancient loom from the 1800s. Amato Daniele, specialized in the processing of exotic leathers, uses unique and precious materials such as silk, satin, leathers, velvet and pure gold threads. The bags are entirely handmade with traditional processing. Moreover, the linings in a distinctive electric blue guarantee an unparalleled quality.
