ALEXANDRE RODCÕENKO (1891-1956) WAS AN ARTIST OF THE RUSSIAN AVANT-GARDE
Alexandre Rodcõenko (1891-1956) was an artist, protagonist of the Russian avant-garde. He is in fact among the theorists of constructivism. Together with his wife, the painter Vervara Stepanova, and Ljubov Popova, he collaborated with Lef, the constructivist magazine that collects the contributions of various artists with the intention of building a link between art and industrial production.
The idea is that of comfortable and functional clothing with square cuts and geometric decorations in which the suggestion of the Cubist influence is felt. The suit, intended as a work suit, is certainly the garment that best represents concept of practicality and functionality theorized by the artist and his wife. In fact they both focused their creative attention on this model.
