Techno

The mass explosion of the phenomenon of rave-parties, beginning in 1988, had the effect of rendering visible to many the ironic use of the fetish of technology and the obsession with the oppressive decibel level, so typical of the new music generically described as Techno. The most radical frequenters of this scene, garbed in radiation-proof overalls and camouflage commando fabrics, seem to be refugees from a science-fiction disaster movie. In terms of style, it is easy to see the influence of the fascination of the post-atomic scenario from a previous time. Anthropologically it is interesting to notice the return in a ritual form of noise, in a civilization (specifically, the English civilization) that is increasingly moving away from the industrial dimension.
