Studio Reutlinger

(1850-1937). Photographic workshop founded by Frenchman Charles Reutlinger (1816-1880). He was a forerunner of the haute couture photographer because he used to take portraits of fashionable women before the modeling profession existed. The studio, which was taken over by his brother Emile and son Léopold, worked for many magazines (Les Modes, Coming Modes, and The Ladies Field) and for designers such as Doucet and Lanvin. When Léopold died in 1937, the business closed.
