Sarti

Faliero (1916-1985). Italian entrepreneur. In 1949, he set up a wool mill in Prato, and from then on devoted his time to the textile industry: perfecting the quality of the fabric and at the same time creating new mixes. In the 1950s and 1960s, the “Made in Italy” phenomenon began in his workshops. His work with upmarket fibers — cashmere, alpaca, linen, and silk — which he experimented with at first in the textile district of Prato, soon won him clients from the world of haute couture: from Capucci to the Fontana sisters, from Schuberth to Sarli to Irene Galitzine, and from Chanel to Cardin. His commitment to research and experimentation without ever forgetting about the purity and linearity of the fabric won him and the Group (still in family hands) the trust of designers from the 1970s onwards, such as Valentino, Ferré, Donna Karan, Dior, Ungaro, Montana and Gaultier. In 1982, he was made a Cavaliere del Lavoro.
