Sanchez

Fernando Sanchez (1934) was a spanish designer and one of the first to promote lingerie. His flowing shirts, pyjama-style pants and use of synthetic materials in garish colors have made him famous. Having studied at the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute couture in Paris, at the end of the 1950s he went to work for Dior and designed underwear, accessories, and knitwear. He then went to the furriers Revillon and stayed there for about ten years until 1973, the year he founded his own lingerie company in New York. Since 1983, he has launched a men’s and women’s ready-to-wear range which is famous for its use of stretch velvets and very elaborate brocades.
