Piscinina is a Milanese dialect term that affectionately indicated the little girls making their debut in tailors and fashion ateliers: they tidied up the rooms and carried parcels to the customers.
They wore aprons, smiled at the piquant gossip, blushed at the looks of the customers’ husbands and mistresses. Someone could become a première, someone else, like Olga Villi, model-lookout and, later, actress.
